The HFT says Lathan should compete in a search for a permanent Superintendent.The Houston Federation of Teachers (HFT) is urging the Board of the Houston Independent School District (HISD) to start a national search for a new superintendent.Leaders with the Houston teachers union voted unanimously on this issue.They want the Houston school board to hire a search firm to conduct what they call a rigorous and transparent search.HFT president Zeph Capo said in a statement that interim Superintendent Grenita Lathan has earned the right to compete, but a wide net should be cast.Lathan’s served in the role since March when the previous schools chief resigned for a job in New York.
