Nokia has launched a new variant of its popular budget smartphone – Nokia 6.1 Plus, in India. The smartphone gets an upgraded 6GB RAM and will be available in two colour variants – Black and Blue. The new variant has gone on sale for Rs 18,499. Nokia has so far listed the new variant on its e-commerce platform. So far, the 6GB variant isn’t available on Flipkart or offline stores. Rest of the specifications remains untouched.The Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched in mid-2018 and was positioned to fight the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 with a price Rs 15,999. The price was recently dropped to Rs 14,999 and was made available for purchase via offline retail. The Nokia 6.1 Plus was originally unveiled in three colours – Black, Blue and White.The new variant with 6GB RAM carries forward all of the other specifications intact from the 4GB variant. The Nokia 6.1 Plus is built around the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset and comes with 64GB of storage as standard. The handset is powered by a 3060mAh battery that could easily last an entire day. For the cameras, the Nokia 6.1 Plus gets a 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup for the rear and a 16-megapixel camera at the front.The Nokia 6.1 Plus gets a premium glass-metal body. The front and rear glass panels get Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The front houses a 5.8-inch IPS LCD display with a full HD+ resolution. The display has narrow bezels and there’s a notch on the top. The Nokia 6.1 Plus like all other Nokia smartphones belongs to the Android One program. The handset was originally launched with Android 8.1 Oreo back in mid-2018 but received the Android Pie update by October 2018. A few weeks ago, Nokia also unveiled two new variants of the cheaper Nokia 5.1 Plus. The Nokia 5.1 Plus is now offered in two variants with 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM. The storage was also upgraded to 64GB. The 4GB variant sells for Rs 14,499 while the 6GB version sells for Rs 16,499. The 3GB variant sells for Rs 10,599.
