first_imgThe Gamescom conference, held between August 6 to August 9, was packed with explosive content. There were games like The Halo 5 and Crackdown 3. That in itself was enough to excite most gamers. But wait, there was more. A number of unique games were announced at the conference. We tell you about the 8 big ones!Halo Wars 2 Halo Wars 2 was an exclusive Gamescom premiere and it showed a trailer where a team of Spartans were getting slaughtered by an unknown enemy. This unknown enemy later turned to be a Brute with a nasty gravity hammer. We don’t know much about the identity of the Brute but it looks a lot like Tartarus, the leader of Brutes from Halo 2. So far this is only speculation as the timeline of Halo Wars 2 is set before Halo Combat Evolved. The game is set to release in early 2016 for Microsoft Xbox One and Windows 10.Quantum Break Quantum Break at the Gamescom packed a lot more punch this time around. It revealed a strong  5-minute gameplay trailer which showed a bit more story, characters and certain mechanics. It also gave gamers a sneak peek into the player’s gadgets and abilities. This was a contrast from Remedy’s earlier reveal at E3 2015 which showcased the technologies and the motivations behind the game but didn’t talk much about the game. The game is reminiscence to other great games such as Timeshift and Singularity. It will release on Xbox One on April 6, 2016.Crackdown 3 The developers behind the Crackdown 3 showed a bit more of the multiplayer trailer. The new game takes place in a glistening metropolis where crime and corruption runs rampant. The story of the game is all about dismantling an empire and ecosystem of criminals. The big deal about the game is how destructible its environment is, giving ample opportunities to gamers for creating cool explosions in the game and having a total blast while playing it. advertisementHalo 5 Halo 5 is one of the most anticipated games right now, largely because it is going to be all about an epic faceoff between Master Chief and Agent Locke. At Gamescom, developers announced the Halo 5 Xbox bundle. The Xbox bundle includes a Halo-themed Xbox One console with 1TB of internal storage and it will launch on October 20th. They also announced Halo as E-Sports contender as well as Halo World Championship this winter with a prize money of $1 million. Rise of the Tomb Raider Rise of the Tomb Raider showcased a 5-minute gameplay trailer at Gamescom 2015. Rise of the Tomb Raider is a game where Lara Croft explores tombs. More significantly, the game allows players to customise the gameplay to suit their style. Two new features in the Rise of the Tomb Raider are the ability to climb trees and swim. If you did try the latter this in the first game you would often get hit by rocks and die horribly. However, this is not the case in Rise of the Tomb Raider where you can make stealth kills on unsuspecting enemies with your rusty pickaxe. There are also tombs that can be fully explored. Forza Motorsport 6 Forza Motorsport 6 was first revealed at E3 2015. It is a game that allows you to drive Ford GT 2015 from the comfort of your own living room, of course virtually. Turn 10, the developers of Forza Motorsport 6, at Gamescom revealed that it has added 6 more tracks and 42 cars, including two spotlight classics such as 1975 BMW Motorsport 3.0 CSL and the 2014 BMW Team RLL Z4 GTE, to the game. Also 4 final new tracks — Hockenheimring, Infineon Raceway, Monza and Texas Track Circuit — have been added. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst Faith is a character that doesn’t require any weapons or fast movements but uses the environment to her advantage. Faith’s personality is unique and she is willing to take a stand when others won’t. This game allows a gamer to grow with Faith. The game initially shows Faith as a carefree runner, who’s daring and often reckless. She lives off the grid and doesn’t have any sympathy for people who live in the city below. Mirror’s Edge catalyst sets certain events in motion that changes the course for Faith, the Runners and the City.  From the get go, one can witness in Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst that the environment is brighter and vibrant. The gameplay shows the incredible manoeuvrability of Faith often combining various movements to scale the city which wasn’t explored in the first game. There is a well-balanced level of scale and stealth within the buildings, in which Faith spends a lot of time pushing the story forward. The game is set to release for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 on February 25 2016.advertisementStar Wars Battlefront  Star Wars Battlefront allows you to fight with your favourite vehicles and iconic characters from the Star Wars universe. You can fight as an imperial soldier or a rebel or play as one of the most iconic and legendary characters like Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker. The new details revealed at the Gamescom showed that Fighter Squadrons are going to be part of the game. Fighter Squadrons puts you in the cockpit of some of the most iconic vehicles in the Star Wars Galaxy. Fighter Squadron is a 20-player aerial combat that have been inspired from the cinematic battles in the movies. The developers have also added 20 Star Fighters to every aerial battle to make things more frantic.
