They have now launched an iDonate campaign and have raised €240 of their €6,000 target.A spokesperson for the campaign said “Essential road repairs to the main road leading to Arranmore Lighthouse. This road is urgently in need of repairs but countless efforts to secure local authority or government funding for the repairs have been fruitless. The community & friends of Arranmore are seeking your assistance to raise funds to carry out essential repairs to the road which leads to the lighthouse.”The group added that is hoped that in due course, a planning application to Donegal Co Co will ensure that the Arranmore Lighthouse tower and grounds will be open to the public. In order to complete the planning application, in an area which is a Special Area of Conservation, funding will also be required. In the event that there is any remaining funding following the repairs to the road, the funds will be used to assist with the planning permission application costs.Islanders launch campaign to build their own road to lighthouse was last modified: July 21st, 2018 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img
