first_img Drake Match Notes ESPN+ Story Links Live Stats The Drake University volleyball team travels to the Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament for the second-straight year this holiday weekend to mark the Bulldogs’ first back-to-back appearances in the tournament since 2010.Drake enters the tournament as the No. 6 seed after winning three of its last four matches to secure the final spot in tournament field and will face No. 3 seed Bradley in Springfield, Mo. The match is set for Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+Thursday’s contest will be the first time the Bulldogs and Braves have met in the MVC Tournament. Earlier this season, Drake and Bradley split their regular-season series with each team earning a 3-1 win on its home court. The Bulldogs are 4-9 all-time in the MVC Tournament and last earned a tournament victory in 2008.Cathryn Cheek has led the Bulldogs’ offense as of late with 15-straight matches with double-figure kills. She is fourth in the MVC in kills with 3.76 per set. Defensively, Kylee Macke recently moved into eighth all-time at Drake in career digs with 1,004 in less than two full seasons at Drake. She is currently fifth in the MVC in digs this season with 4.62 per set. Drake finished the regular-season with a 20-13 record and its 20 wins this season are the sixth-most in program history and tied for the second most since 2010. The Bulldogs’ 43 combined wins over the past two seasons are the fourth-most in a two-year period in school history.The winner of Thursday’s contest advances to the tournament semifinals to face No. 2 seed Illinois State. Print Friendly Versionlast_img
