iStock(MONTEREY, Calif.) — Two homicide suspects who escaped from a California jail over the weekend have been captured, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday morning.Santos Fonseca, 21, and Jonathan Salazar, 20, escaped from the Monterey County Jail in Salinas, a city about 60 miles south of San Jose, on Sunday morning when they were able to “exploit” a “blind spot” in the facility, according to authorities.Fonseca and Salazar were able to create a hole about 22 inches wide in the ceiling above a bathroom in their housing unit, which enabled them to climb in and work their way through, authorities said.On the other side of the bathroom wall, which is a space that houses pipes for plumbing, they kicked in a hatch that led to the outside. Since the jail is under construction, the outdoor area was covered in construction fencing, rather than security fencing with barbed wire, and the two were able to leave the jail’s grounds, authorities said. They were taken into custody by Customs and Border Protection agents, according to the sheriff’s office. This is a developing story. About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say Milivojevic full of pride leading Crystal Palace to win at Man Cityby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveCrystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic was delighted with victory at Manchester City on Saturday. The Serb scored from the spot for the shock 3-2 win.”This result is very special, I am very proud and after the last game against Leicester at home we went on and got the win today. To be honest, you try to do something but you don’t expect a lot from these kind of games but when you score three goals here you can say you deserved to win,” said Milivojevic as he heaped praise on the second Palace goal, an excellent strike from 30 yards out by Andros Townsend.“It was an amazing goal, one of the best I have seen in my career whilst I have been out on the pitch playing in a game”. Milivojevic missed a spot-kick against City 12 months ago in a home draw but he made no mistake in front of the 800 Palace fans inside the stadium. He also told cpfc.co.uk: “I was not nervous, I decided where I wanted to place the ball and I think that goal was massive because that going in gave us more confidence for the second half, Let’s say they possibly gave up a little bit after that goal but then they score late on which put a lot of pressure on us. It wasn’t an easy game but as I say we are all so proud of this victory and we now know the next game is massive for us. (against Cardiff City) I want to thank our fans and I think they deserved this victory.”
Twitter/@CoachZachSmithThe high-scoring NCAA Football game between Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones and Jared Foley, a Buckeyes fan that he visited in the hospital before the national championship, is quickly becoming one of the most hotly-contested video game results that we can remember. The game was originally thought to be a 91-35 win for Jones, but yesterday he clarified that he added a late touchdown to make it 98-35.Clearly, Jones wants to get credit for all of the points he scored, but he may have undersold Foley’s effort himself. OTTAWA – Canada’s Privacy Commissioner office says it has prioritized an examination into the massive Equifax data hack to ensure that Canadians are protected against future risks. In a posting on its website, it says it plans to work with data protection authorities in Canada and elsewhere to find out what went wrong. It says it has asked the credit monitoring company to tell Canadians as soon as possible if their information was stolen and to adopt measures to help them.Equifax said last Thursday a security breach occurred over the summer resulting in the private information of up to 143 million people in the United States being compromised, along with certain Canadian and U.K. residents. In a posting on the Canadian part of its website, Equifax says it is “working night and day to assess what happened.”It says the data breach is “contained,” and the Canadian breach may have involved names, addresses and social insurance numbers.Equifax says “only a limited number of Canadians may have been affected.”It says a dedicated website and call centre set up last week won’t help Canadians because it uses U.S. social security numbers, without offering an alternative. The Privacy Commissioner suggested Canadians can call Equifax at 1-866-828-5961 (English service) or 1-877-323-2598 (French service).Equifax discovered the hack July 29, but waited until Thursday to warn consumers. An Ontario resident has started a proposed class action on behalf of Canadians who may have been affected by the hack. The proposed class action includes all residents of Canada whose information was stored on Equifax databases and was accessed without authorization between May 1, 2017 and Aug. 1, 2017.The statement of claim alleges Equifax breached its contract with class members as well as their privacy rights, was negligent in handling their information, and breached provincial privacy statutes.Allegations in the statement of claim have not been proven in court. In the United States, the theft included consumers’ names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and, in some cases, driver’s licence numbers.

At last month’s Edmonton meeting, the premiers found common ground on issues such as economic corridors, which Kenney said includes everything from electricity grids to natural gas lines, highways, railways and pipelines. However, at the meeting’s conclusion Kenney said Alberta is prepared to use provincial legislation to limit oil and gas exports to any province standing in the way of pipelines, while Horgan said his government will push ahead with a legal challenge of that law.The Canadian Press After the meeting, they’ll have a chance to watch the Stampede rodeo before travelling to Saskatoon for this week’s Council of the Federation meeting in Saskatoon, which runs Tuesday through Thursday. The western premiers met late last month in Edmonton, where British Columbia Premier John Horgan and Kenney agreed to continue to disagree on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project that would carry Alberta oil to the West Coast.A parade of politicians, which included federal Conservative leader Andrew Scheer on Saturday, make a pilgrimage to Calgary every year during the city’s famous 10-day celebration of cowboy culture.“It’s an honour to welcome some of my fellow premiers to the Calgary Stampede to discuss how we can be closer partners in prosperity. We share a commitment to defending taxpayers, getting our natural resources to global markets by building pipelines and economic corridors, and to free trade within Canada,” Kenney said in the news release. The release said the Calgary meeting will build on discussions from the Western Premiers’ Conference, as well as meetings Kenney has had with counterparts across the country over the past two months. All of the premiers who will be in Calgary are conservatives, with the exception of Robert McLeod of the Northwest Territories, which has a consensus government. CALGARY — Alberta Premier Jason Kenney will host the premiers of Ontario, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and the Northwest Territories at the Calgary Stampede.A news release from the province says the premiers will meet over dinner on Sunday, and will be officially welcomed at a traditional white hat ceremony during the premier’s annual Stampede pancake breakfast on Monday. It says formal meetings will follow, where Kenney says the leaders will discuss how they “can be closer partners in prosperity,” noting they share common goals such building pipelines and free trade within Canada.

While the airline made an official announcement about the board’s decisions after the markets closed, reports have been doing the rounds since morning that Goyal would be stepping down from the board. The company urgently needed funding to maintain whatever was left of its market shares, as the airline pilots and crew were said to be approaching other airlines for employment. The airline’s pilots along with engineers and other highly critical segment of employees have not been paid salaries from January 1, sources said, adding only 12.5 per cent of December pay was given. Abu Dhabi-based Etihad is a strategic partner with 24 per cent stake in Jet Airways. Jet Airways, which has been operating for more than 25 years, is grappling with financial crunch and is also looking to raise fresh funds. The airline has suspended operations on at least 14 international routes till the end of April and over 80 planes are on the ground. As many as 54 aircraft have been grounded due to non-payment of lease rentals.
